How can I communicate with other attendees? Will there be a forum?

We are currently looking for a volunteer to handle this! If you are interested in researching the best communication platform and leading this effort please contact us!

Can I ship my equipment?

Attendees will be able to ship items, boxes and/or suitcases ahead of time.  Those with luggage limits due to air travel may want to consider ordering a tarp, tent, and sleeping bag and have them delivered to us to be collected upon arrival.  After the event, if you would like to donate the camping items to our local shelter, we will deliver them. IMPORTANT: If you need your items shipped back, make sure you get a pre-paid shipping label for the return.  The host site does not have a shipping store, so they will only be able to call for pre-paid pick-up.

Can I rent equipment?

There will not be equipment available for rental. Each participant is responsible for securing their own.

Can I register for the Rendezvous now and for the Pre and Post ‘Vous activities later?

Yes, but certain choices may not be available. Best to contact us directly to ensure availability and update your registration costs.

How tall are the trees that we will be climbing?

We will be climbing mostly live oaks. These picturesque trees can grow up to 80 feet tall (though usually 60 feet), with a spread of up to 100 feet and with the potential for a six-foot diameter trunk. They have many curved trunks and massive branches and are excellent for limb walking, transfers, and napping!

What airport should I fly into?

The best airport option depends on where you are flying from and which airline. The closest major airports to North Central Florida are Orlando, Tampa, and Jacksonville.

I won’t have a car so can I carpool?

We will try to connect people who need to carpool with available transportation. Please leave us a message when you register (space provided for comments at the end of the form) or contact us through this website.

Do the tent sites have restrooms?

All tent sites are separate from the RV sites and are within walking distance of Two Hawk Hammock, where the meals, workshops, and presentations will take place. Some tent sites have power, and all tent and RV sites have access to a bath house facility with toilets and hot water.  There is an outdoor swimming pool as well as picnic tables, covered pavilions, and fire rings throughout the property.

What will the weather be like?

Williston April Weather, Average Temperature (Florida, United States) – Weather Spark

In case of an accident, how far is the closest clinic?

In case of minor injuries, Williston has a walk-in urgent care center 6 minutes away from Two Hawk Hammock Quick Care Med | Urgent Care & Walk-In Clinic

In case of serious injury, UF Health Shands has a Level 1 Trauma Center with a dedicated helicopter and medical staff. It is located 33 minutes (driving distance) from Two Hawk Hammock.

When will I be able to visit the Botanical Gardens?

Cedar Lakes Botanical Gardens will be open for touring by all Rendezvous attendees from Friday, April 1 (noon) to Monday, April 4 (noon).  In order to help with crowd control, everyone will be asked to choose a time block for visiting the Gardens and will receive a wrist band to be identified as a ‘Vous attendee.

We will be allowed to climb one tree inside the Botanical Gardens (in addition to the many trees available in the 64 acre Conservation Area).  When you check in to the event you will be asked to choose a time slot for climbing in the Gardens, which will be limited to 20 climbers at a time. The Gardens are open from 9am to 5pm.

How will I get from my campsite to the climbing site? I don’t see any roads in the aerial map.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be an internal shuttle transporting people and equipment to and from the Botanical Gardens, Conservation Area, Devil’s Den, and Two Hawk Hammock. The shuttle will not be servicing the Williston area.

Is there accident insurance available?

All attendees are in-charge of their own health insurance coverage. For people traveling from other countries, we recommend that you research your best insurance providers. This company is active in the Florida area (we are sharing the link for informational purposes and we are not affiliated with this company) https://www.geobluetravelinsurance.com/product_overview.cfm?link_id=255781&header=y&footer=y&personalized=y

What other lunch options do I have besides the $14 box lunch?

There is a large and well stocked Winn Dixie supermarket 7 minutes (driving time) from Two Hawk Hammock. Cooking is permitted in the camping sites and all rooms (from single to triple occupancy) have kitchens. Additionally, there are several chain and local restaurants within a 10 minute drive.
